Taurus in the tarot

Taurus is spring fully arrived: green, heavy, slow and sure. It is fixed earth, the element at its most settled — loyal, sensual, stubborn, fond of what it already has. In the cards it is The Hierophant, keeper of what endures, and three Disks that deal with loss, giving and the long wait for the harvest.

The Hierophant

Taurus belongs to The Hierophant, card V of the major arcana — . It is the card to choose for someone born under Taurus, if you want a card to stand for them in a reading.

Its ruling planet, Venus, is The Empress: love, beauty, pleasure.

The three decans

The ten-day slices of Taurus are three Disks, the suit of earth. If your birthday falls in one, that card is yours.
